Several years ago, when I graduated from high school, there was not a career choice called Graphic Design. I knew I was good at art, so I focused on careers like architecture, interior design, travel agent, etc.
Then a miraculous thing happened in the early 1990’s… the World Wide Web!!! While I was waiting for my “fun” career, I held government jobs and worked more artistic positions on the side. I illustrated a book, dug into Photoshop 5.0, 6.0, CS, CS3, CS6 and finally CC… YES! Then eventually worked as freelance web designer.
I have a Web Development Certificate from WWCC and a Wyoming Professional Teaching Certificate, obtained by working in the field. I also have a Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism from Stevens-Henager College of Business.
On a more personal note, I have two children: 25 year old daughter who graduated from the U of U with a BA in Psychology and working on a medical degree and 19 year old junior, who is amazing at all things artistic. My daughter got married in July of 2016 and she and her wife are working for the Peace Corp in Cambodia for 27 months.
I have worked at the school district for 17 years as the Print Shop Manager and I have been teaching Graphic Arts part time for 7 years, at Horizon Alternative High School.
